Is it permissible to divorce one's wife while concealing from her family the fact that consummation occurred, despite her betrayal through phone calls after the marriage contract and before the legitimate consummation?

A man possesses his wife upon the mere conclusion of the marriage contract, and she becomes his wife, making lawful for him what is lawful for a man from his wife. However, customary practices and agreement with the wife's guardian should be observed if cohabitation is postponed. If intercourse or a lawful seclusion occurs, there is no sin upon him because she is truly his wife, and the full rulings of consummation follow from this, such as the entitlement to the mahr (dowry).

If the husband is certain of his wife's infidelity and she shows no remorse, he may divorce her kindly. He is obligated to inform her family of his having consummated the marriage with her and to pay any remaining portion of her mahr, especially if she was a virgin and became non-virgin due to him, to avoid false accusations.

It is necessary to clarify the Sharia ruling to the wife's family that consummation after the marriage contract and before the wedding ceremony is not zina (fornication/adultery). It is recommended to keep the wife and strive to reform and conceal her.
