Is Aisha's saying, "I find the smell of maghafir from you," a lie, and is it permissible to ask about such matters?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had no unpleasant odors. The words of the Mother of the Believers, Aisha, may God be pleased with her, were interpreted as either a question or an indirect statement, not an outright lie, as stated by Ibn Hajar and Ibn al-Munir. It was also said that this was due to Aisha's young age and her lack of intent to cause harm. The more probable view is that what she said was a stratagem, not a lie.
