Is it incumbent upon me to begin reciting the Quran at night when intending to complete it in seven days, following the example of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, given that the Islamic day begins at night?

Reading the Quran is among the best deeds, and it is recommended for a Muslim to have a daily portion of the Quran. Completing the recitation of the Quran every seven days was the practice of most of the early Muslims (Salaf), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to Abdullah ibn Amr: "Recite it in seven [days], and do not exceed that," and Al-Suyuti's statement: "This is the most balanced and best of matters, and it was the practice of most of the Companions." It has not been established that completing the Quran in seven days was the Prophet's daily practice, nor is it a condition to start the recitation at night. However, reading at night is better because it leads to greater concentration of the heart, is further from distractions, safeguards against showing off, and due to the reported blessings specifically associated with the night.
