Is the second wife considered sinful if the first wife requests a divorce because of the second marriage, and is the first wife sinful for requesting a divorce for this reason, and is the husband entitled to refuse this divorce to preserve the family and children, and can the fatwa of the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, which considered the second wife sinful in this case, be refuted, and what can be said to someone who rejects a second marriage because of this fatwa?

Polygyny is permissible for a man who is able to provide for and be just among his wives, and there is no injustice to the woman in it. It is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce merely because her husband married another, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without any [valid] reason, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her." There is no harm for a woman in marrying a married man, and she does not sin if the first wife seeks a divorce because of it. The wife should be advised to accept the ruling of Sharia and to preserve her home, and the man is not obliged to grant her request for divorce. The justice required of a man is in lodging, maintenance, and clothing.
