Why do we thank God for essential blessings such as intellect and bodily health, and is it offensive that we were not created perfect?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A person should thank his Lord for the blessing of bringing him into existence from nothingness, for being a responsible human being, and for the apparent and hidden blessings. Allah Almighty is not obligated by anything and does what He wills. He created man in the best form and endowed him with hearing, sight, and intellect, and guided him to the path. Had He created him differently, there would have been no fault in Him. Existence itself is a great blessing that necessitates gratitude, especially the blessing of faith in Him, for all blessings are from Allah, and they are countless.
