The question

Is a divorce effective if someone made their divorce conditional on something, then immediately retracted their statement without pause or interruption? And what is the solution for someone who is plagued by thoughts of divorce and divorces in their mind without uttering a word, to the point that it becomes obsessive?

The answer

A Muslim's verbalization of suspending divorce upon a condition and then retracting it is not beneficial to him; rather, the ruling of the suspension becomes binding on him. A declaration cannot be revoked. A definitive or suspended divorce does not occur except from a responsible, deliberate husband, not from someone afflicted by obsessive doubts (waswās) or whose tongue slipped unintentionally. We advise you to turn away from obsessive doubts and not to indulge them.
