Studying is not an excuse to miss Jumu'ah prayer. Students should discuss with the university administration to organize study times in a way that does not conflict with Jumu'ah prayer. If the administration does not respond, and performing Jumu'ah would result in significant harm, such as expulsion from the university or missing an expensive academic year, then it is permissible to miss Jumu'ah. If possible, transferring to another university that does not have this prohibition is preferable to safeguard one's religion.
