Does the sin remain upon someone who gave his friend a pornographic tape, then repented sincerely and destroyed all such tapes in his possession, but his friend refused to return the tape to him and continued to promote it?

The questioner is congratulated on his repentance, and is urged to ask Allah for steadfastness, and to always say: "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion." The questioner must rectify what he has corrupted, for Allah Almighty says: "Except those who repent and correct themselves and make manifest the truth—those are the ones to whom I will turn in forgiveness, and I am the Accepter of Repentance, the Merciful." And He says: "Except for those who repent, correct themselves, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their religion for Allah—those will be with the believers. And Allah will grant the believers a great reward." He must also continue to advise his friend and try to retrieve the tape from him, and go to everyone he was a cause of corrupting, invite them, and explain the truth to them using the best methods.
