What good deeds of his children benefit the deceased in his grave?

The scholars are in agreement that the benefit of charity, supplication (du'a), and seeking forgiveness (istighfar) reaches the deceased. Some have also included Hajj and Umrah in this. However, they differed concerning other voluntary acts such as fasting, prayer (salat), and reciting the Qur'an. The majority opinion is that the deceased benefits from these, and also benefits from the righteous deeds of his child whom he guided during his lifetime.
