Intercourse during menstruation, if done intentionally, is forbidden and necessitates expiation (). This includes the man inserting his glans into the woman's vagina. As for a man enjoying his wife between the navel and the knee during menstruation, there is a difference of opinion on this, and it becomes forbidden if there is a fear of falling into the forbidden. If penetration occurs unintentionally and the penis is withdrawn immediately, there is no sin or expiation upon the couple.
