Are a daughter's children considered grandchildren, or is that limited only to a son's children?

In the Arabic language, 'al-hafadah' (الحفدة) refers to grandchildren (children of one's children), sons-in-law, servants, and helpers, and anyone who assists another. Allah the Almighty has blessed His servants with their presence, as He says: "And Allah has made for you from your wives mates and made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren." Scholars have differed regarding the meaning of 'al-hafadah' in this verse. Some have said they are the children of one's children, while others have said they are helpers and servants, and some have said they are sons-in-law (husbands of daughters). Al-Shinqiti preferred the view that 'al-hafadah' refers to the children of one's children, i.e., grandchildren from sons, due to the verse's use of the word "your wives," which encompasses both sons and grandchildren. As for the children of daughters, they are linguistically included in the meaning of "children of one's children," because 'al-walad' (الولد) includes both male and female offspring, but they differ from the children of sons in the distribution of inheritance.
