Is the hadith true that the duration of crossing the Sirat is a thousand years ascending and a thousand years descending?

The Sirat is a bridge laid over the متن جهنم (the middle of Hell), thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword. People cross it according to their deeds. Some pass like the blink of an eye, lightning, or the wind; some walk quickly, or normally, or crawl; and some are snatched and thrown into the Fire. On it are hooks, grappling irons, and flattened thorns. People on it are of three types: one who is safe and secure, nothing touches him; one who is scratched but then saved; and one who is piled up and thrown into Hell. Only believers will cross it; as for disbelievers, they will be driven directly to the Fire.
