Is it permissible for Muslims to play rugby, which requires physical strength and intellectual development, provided they adhere to covering the 'awrah and avoid striking an opponent in the face?

Rugby and American football are two games characterized by extreme violence and the infliction of physical harm upon players, which is forbidden by Islamic law. The proofs of prohibition include: the prohibition of aggression, the characteristic of a Muslim as one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, the inviolability of blood, property, and honor, the prohibition of harm and causing harm, and contradicting gentleness which Allah loves. The consent of the players or the claim of strengthening the body does not permit playing, because harm is forbidden by Islamic law. However, if the two games are refined from violence in such a way that they are free from harm and other legal prohibitions, they become permissible, and may even be recommended for certain groups, such as soldiers, to accustom them to combat missions.
