The answer

The fundamental criterion for choosing a spouse is character and religious commitment. It is recommended for the suitor to see his fiancée and for her to see him. Photographic images or video calls are insufficient to achieve this purpose.

Poor eyesight and wearing glasses should not cause concern, and the suitor can be frankly informed about this matter. There should be no haste in making a decision to accept or reject based on a picture or poor eyesight. Rather, one should take time, visit the suitor to get to know him better, and verify the accuracy of information received about him from a reliable source.

A woman has the right to reject a proposal for any reason. The ability to relocate to his distant place of residence must be taken into consideration. It is advisable to consult people of religious knowledge and sound judgment. After careful consideration and consultation, no action should be taken except after performing Salatul- (the prayer of seeking guidance).
