Scholars differ concerning one who falsely reports divorcing his wife. The preponderant view, in our opinion, is that the divorce does not take effect religiously in this case. Therefore, the husband's informing the girl's family of your separation and publicizing it in the newspaper does not constitute a divorce, as long as he was lying and did not intend divorce by writing, considering that the wife is still under his marital bond.
