Does the divorce of a man who divorced his wife while under the influence of drugs and in a state of extreme anger, and who repeated the word of divorce several times, take effect? And can he take her back with a new contract or without one if the divorce did not take effect, knowing that the last divorce was a year ago?

A husband's utterance of divorce (talaq (definition)) or ẓihār while lacking awareness due to anger or intoxication is not effective, and no rajʿah (revocation) or kaffārah (expiation) is required. If he utters it while fully aware of what he is saying, his divorce is effective, and he may revoke it and take back his wife before her ʿiddah (waiting period) expires, provided she has not completed three divorces. The ʿiddah expires with three menstrual cycles, or by giving birth for a pregnant woman, or after three months for a woman who does not menstruate. If the ʿiddah expires before revocation, she is not permissible for him except through a new marriage contract.

However, if she has completed three divorces, his wife is not permissible for him unless she marries another man in a genuine marriage, and then that man divorces her or dies, and her ʿiddah ends.
