What is the optimal course of action with a wife who seeks divorce without cause, and desires to speak with a "spiritual shaykh" at any time? And is she considered rebellious (nashiz) if she persists in seeking divorce while I wish to continue the marriage for the sake of the children?

A wife is not permitted to seek a divorce without a legitimate Shar'i reason. If she dislikes remaining with her husband, she may seek khul'. The wife must obey her husband in what is right, and she must refrain from conversing with a non-mahram (definition) man; otherwise, she is considered disobedient (nashiz). The wife must be admonished about the necessity of obedience and informed about the seriousness of disobeying her husband. She should also be reminded of the children's right to grow up in a stable family, given the negative effects of divorce on them. Children lose more than parents do in the event of a separation, and family disintegration can lead to juvenile delinquency and the formation of a distorted image of the family in their minds.
