What is the ruling on money earned from transporting people in a private car for a fee, while violating traffic laws, for someone who cannot find work and has children?

The fundamental principle is the obligation to adhere to traffic laws that do not contravene Islamic Sacred Law, as these laws are enacted for the benefit of people and to avert harm from them. However, if a Muslim is compelled by an unavoidable necessity to violate them, there is no sin upon him, based on the Almighty's saying: "And He has detailed for you what He has forbidden to you, except what you are compelled to [eat or use]."

Therefore, if you cannot find another job or anything to spend on yourself and your family except by transporting people for a fee, then there is no sin upon you in doing so, provided that the necessity is estimated in its proper measure. It is not permissible to work beyond the extent that alleviates your necessity. And whenever you find another permissible job, you are obliged to cease the work that violates the laws.
