If the husband divorces his wife before consummation, she becomes irrevocably separated from him, and she is not lawful for him again except through a new marriage contract. If he issues another divorce to her before re-marrying her with a new contract, that divorce does not take effect and therefore is not counted. One must be cautious about divorce, especially at the beginning of married life. Marital problems should be resolved with reason and wisdom.
