How much monthly support is due to a divorced wife for a period of three months, in addition to a consolation payment (mut'ah), taking into consideration the age of the spouses, the duration of the marriage, and the husband's financial and living situation?
If the divorce is irrevocable and the woman is not pregnant, she is not entitled to maintenance () or housing (sukna).
However, if the divorce is revocable, she is entitled to maintenance and housing until her waiting period () ends. She must remain in her husband's home, and it is not permissible to evict her from it before the iddah expires. Allah Almighty says: "O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not expel them from their houses, nor should they exit [therefrom] unless they commit a clear immorality." (Quran 65:1)
The estimation of maintenance and compensatory gift (mutah) is left to the discretion of the judge.
