The answer

Divorce is detestable in Islamic law, and one should only resort to it when reconciliation becomes impossible. We advise you to gently communicate with your husband and understand the reasons for his mistreatment, to rectify any shortcomings on your part, and to be keen on being a good wife to him and cooperating with him in obedience to Allah. If he does not treat you with kindness, then weigh the harm of divorce against the harm of remaining with him in that state, and choose the lesser of the two harms.
