The answer

The prospective groom and bride are advised to expedite the completion of the marriage contract (aqd shar'i) for the sake of chastity and protection. This is because they are considered strangers (ajnabiyan) before the contract, and no communication or conversations are permissible between them outside the bounds of Islamic law. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen warned against the prospective groom speaking with his fiancée before the contract, considering it unlawful. However, some scholars permitted a man to speak with his fiancée as needed to discuss marriage matters, provided there is no temptation (fitna) or arousal of desire.
