The answer

You should be congratulated on your repentance. If the wife has repented and become righteous, do not divorce her, for she is a woman of religion. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Succeed with the woman of religion, may your hands be dusty." You should take her away from her family without delay. There is no need for an expensive party; inviting some relatives is sufficient. The wife must obey you. If the prompt mahr (dowry) has been paid, she must surrender herself, otherwise, she would be disobedient (nashiz). The girl's father must fear Allah and praise his Lord for his daughter's marriage. He is not permitted to spoil her marriage out of greed for money. Patience with the repentant, righteous wife is more befitting. Her family's lack of righteousness does not fault her, for "no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." There is no need for divorce unless there is a compelling reason for it.
