Is it permissible to pray for the father not to get married? And is the marriage contract valid if someone other than the father performs it, with his consent or without his knowledge, or if a sheikh performs it with the consent of the guardians? And does guardianship transfer to the brother if the father rejects a suitor only once?

If a father desires to marry, it is permissible for him, provided he acts justly between his wives. Islamic law does not prohibit him from this, and a daughter does not have the right to supplicate against him to prevent him from marrying. If he marries and travels, his children should maintain ties with him to the best of their ability, and the mother is not permitted to prevent them from communicating with him, because obedience is only in what is good. The fundamental principle is that the father is the guardian (wali) for his daughter's marriage. His guardianship does not fall away unless he refuses to marry her to a suitable suitor without a legitimate Sharia (definition) reason, or if he is absent and cannot be contacted. In such a case, the guardianship transfers to the next closest guardian or the ruler. It is permissible for the guardian who has the authority to solemnize the marriage to delegate this power.
