Is the marriage still valid after uttering the words "you are divorced" twice on one occasion, and four or five times on another occasion, bearing in mind that the utterances occurred on two occasions only?

If a man divorces his wife three times or twice with a single utterance, or with multiple utterances in one sitting, according to the preponderant opinion, only one divorce takes place, and he may take her back as long as she is within her waiting period (iddah (definition)). Therefore, two divorces have occurred, and since the wife was taken back after the second divorce, the marital relationship remains valid. It is advised to fear Allah, guard one's tongue, and avoid uttering words of divorce when angry.
