Prohibited degrees by affinity are four categories: The ascendants and descendants of the husband for the wife, and the ascendants of the wife for the husband. These become unlawful immediately upon the marriage contract. As for the descendants of the wife for the husband, they become unlawful upon consummation. It is permissible for a man to marry a woman, and for his son to marry from her mother or from her daughter; based on the words of Allah Almighty: (And lawful for you are [all others] beyond these).
