Is the statement, "I don't need a daughter like you now," made in the context of an argument, considered an intention to annul the marriage before consummation, a divorce? A wife is not permitted to inform her husband about a sin she committed previously. Instead, she must repent and conceal her sin. Regarding divorce, thoughts of divorce do not constitute a divorce, even if explicitly articulated. Furthermore, a metaphorical expression (such as: "I do not need a daughter like you now") does not constitute a divorce unless the husband intended it. The default is the preservation of the marital bond unless its dissolution is confirmed with certainty. A valid private meeting (khalwah) with the wife is considered equivalent to consummation, and the husband, in this case, retains the right to reconciliation (raj'ah). One must be cautious about divorce and resolve problems with deliberation and wisdom.
