The maintenance of the wife and children is obligatory upon the husband. The wife's salary belongs to her, and it is not permissible for the husband to take it except with her cheerful consent. He has the right to prevent her from working or to stipulate that she give him a portion of her salary in exchange for allowing her to work, unless she had stipulated in the marriage contract that he permit her to work. Therefore, it is necessary to agree upon these matters before the contract to avoid disputes.
