What is the ruling on a man taking back his wife whom he divorced while he was angry, and she was unaware of the divorce?

The divorce of an angry person takes effect unless his anger reaches the point of losing consciousness, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no divorce nor manumission in a state of closure (loss of awareness)." If a husband divorces his wife once or twice and she has not yet completed her 'iddah (definition) (waiting period), he may take her back verbally or by action. This does not require a new contract, or mahr (dowry), or the wife's consent, or the guardian's consent, or witnesses, although having witnesses is recommended.
