What is the ruling on a wife studying a Biology specialization after marriage?

The default rule is that it is permissible for a woman to study both before and after marriage. However, if she is married, she must obtain her husband's permission, and he has the right to prevent her from studying if she did not stipulate the completion of her studies [in the marriage contract]. Each case must be evaluated based on what serves the best interest, provided that studying is not permissible if it involves a religious prohibition, such as intermingling with non-mahram (definition) men, even if the husband gives permission.
