What is the ruling on an experimental marriage that stipulates that divorce will not occur for a certain period, such as five years, and what is the ruling on stipulating that verbal divorce will not occur, so that divorce is only through the courts?

The "trial marriage" that includes a condition not to divorce for a specific period or not to effectuate divorce verbally is contrary to Islamic law and void [in its condition], but the contract itself is valid. Allah has made divorce an exit for the spouses when needed, and stipulating its absence restricts the right of both parties and contradicts the Sunnah (definition). Divorce takes effect if the husband pronounces it willingly.
