Adultery for a married woman is a grave major sin, but the door of repentance is open for whoever regrets and resolves not to return to it. The child resulting from adultery is attributed to the woman's husband if he had consummated the marriage with her, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The child belongs to the bed."
