Is the wife's screaming and raising her voice at her husband, and her going on a short trip with her friends without informing him, considered an act of defiance (nushuz) that justifies her husband abandoning her and refusing to communicate with her?

Marital disputes cannot be resolved by a fatwa (definition) from afar. Instead, they should be referred to a Sharia (definition) court, or to someone mutually agreed upon by both spouses. The spouses must live together amicably and fulfill their rights and obligations. The husband is responsible for financially supporting his wife unless she is disobedient (nashiz). It is not permissible for the wife to leave her home without her husband's permission, except out of necessity. If she leaves without his permission for other than a necessity, then she is considered disobedient. If the wife is disobedient, the husband may refrain from speaking to her for three days and may forsake her in bed until she ceases her disobedience. The husband must balance honoring his parents with treating his wife kindly. The wife must treat her husband's family well. Divorce is abhorrent in Sharia and should not be resorted to unless reconciliation becomes impossible.
