The answer

The husband's rights over his wife are many, including: her not leaving his house except with his permission, her not admitting anyone he dislikes, and her obeying him in matters that do not involve disobedience [to Allah]. She must fear Allah and perform her marital duties, and adhere to the legal in front of non- men. The husband must guide her and advise her gently. If she insists [on disobedience], he may show anger and abandon her in bed. It is preferable for the spouses to live in a separate house to avoid these problems.
