What is the ruling on a father's obstinacy in refusing to complete his daughter's marriage, wanting her to travel for work without getting married, and would it be considered disobedience on her part if she insists on completing the marriage, and what is the way to complete the legitimate marriage in this case?

If a father prevents his daughter from marrying or from traveling to him without a just cause, he is unjust and is hindering her, and she is not obligated to obey him in this matter, and his anger towards her will not harm her. It is recommended to seek mediation from righteous people to convince him. If he insists, the daughter may refer her case to a Sharia (definition) judge to have her married or to order her guardian to do so.

Scholars differed on the transfer of guardianship to a more distant guardian without referring to the ruler. The more authoritative opinion is that it is permissible to transfer guardianship to the more distant guardian without the ruler's permission. Thus, her closest guardian other than her father may marry her off.

Nevertheless, one must be dutiful to the father and accompany him with kindness, regardless of his condition.
