Is it permissible for a traveler from Amsterdam to Paris and back on the same day to break their fast?

A traveler is permitted to break their fast in Ramadan (definition), and there is no difference between a difficult or an easy journey. Scholars have differed on defining the distance that qualifies one as a traveler. The majority opinion is approximately 80 km, while others hold that what matters is common practice (urf). Both opinions consider travel from Amsterdam to Paris to be a journey during which one is permitted to avail oneself of the concessions. It is better for the traveler to fast unless they encounter hardship, in which case breaking the fast is better. This is because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to fast while traveling, and generally, fasting then is easier than making up the fast later, and it clears one's obligation sooner, and it involves fasting during a virtuous time. However, if there is hardship, then fasting is not permissible.
