Whoever abandons fasting, denying its obligation, is an infidel by consensus. As for whoever abandons it out of laziness and negligence, the correct view is that he does not disbelieve, but he falls into great danger by abandoning a pillar whose obligation is agreed upon, and he deserves punishment and discipline from the ruler. He must also make up what he missed and repent to Allah.
