The answer

If a fasting person intentionally engages in sexual intercourse during the daytime in , their fast is invalidated, and they are obligated to make up for the fast (qada') and offer expiation (kaffara), regardless of whether the intercourse was permissible or impermissible. Expiation is due for intentional sexual intercourse, whether it was with one's wife or a non- woman. The sin of fornication (zina) in Ramadan remains, and it is a compounded sin due to the magnification of the transgression based on the time and place.
