The answer

Intentionally breaking the fast in is a sin that necessitates repentance and seeking forgiveness. If breaking the fast was through intentional sexual intercourse, then an expiation is due for each day on which the fast was broken. This expiation is the freeing of a slave; if one cannot find a slave, then fasting for two consecutive months; if one is unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor persons. If breaking the fast was through intentional eating or drinking, some scholars hold the view that expiation is also obligatory.
