What is the wisdom behind mentioning nights instead of days in the Almighty’s saying: "And [by] ten nights" (Qur’an 89:2), even though the virtues of the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah occur during the day?

Scholars differed concerning the meaning of "ten nights" in Allah's saying: (By the Dawn; And [by] ten nights). The majority held that they are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and Ibn Jarir even reported a consensus on this. In the Arabic language, nights can be used to express days. Some scholars, a view narrated from Ibn Abbas, held that they are the last ten nights of Ramadan (definition) due to the presence of Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) therein. This view was chosen by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen because it aligns with the apparent meaning of the verse.
