What is the ruling regarding a woman who broke her fast while making up for a Ramadan fast, in response to an invitation to eat? Is she required to make up the day or offer expiation?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is not permissible to break a compensatory fast (qada') except for a valid excuse. Whoever does so must repent and make up the day they broke their fast, but there is no expiation () upon them. This is because an obligatory fast—such as making up for , or a vowed fast, or an expiatory fast—becomes binding once one begins it.
