The question

Does inhaling laundry starch spray (Fid Fad), which removes static electricity from clothes, invalidate the fast, and is it obligatory to make up the days on which it was inhaled by mistake or out of ignorance of its ruling, knowing that it is used daily and has a tangible substance?

The answer

If the inhaler is merely a vapor with no substance, then inhaling it does not break the fast of a fasting person, because it does not reach the stomach. However, if the inhaler has a substance, then inhaling it unintentionally or out of ignorance does not break the fast, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever forgets while he is fasting and eats or drinks, let him complete his fast, for it was Allah who fed him and gave him drink." But whoever inhales it intentionally, his fast is invalidated, because it reaches the throat and stomach, and thus becomes like eating and drinking.
