Does listening to songs by a non-Muslim female singer who mocked Allah – whether jokingly or intentionally – make a Muslim an infidel, and when does a Muslim become an infidel? What is the advice for confronting whispers of disbelief?

Merely listening to the songs of disbelievers does not make you a disbeliever. However, it is forbidden to listen to anything that contains mockery of Allah, because Allah has commanded us to turn away from listening to disbelief and mockery of religion. He has also forbidden us from sitting in gatherings of disbelief and mockery of Allah's verses. The verse’s comparison of the listener to the speaker of disbelief does not equate them in every respect, but rather in the disobedience of Allah's command and the commission of His sin.

It is forbidden to listen to musical instruments by consensus, as stated by the four Imams, and none of their followers have mentioned any disagreement on this matter.

A Muslim does not become a disbeliever unless he believes, says, or does something that is disbelief, knowingly and intentionally. As for the heedless, the forgetful, or the mistaken, Allah overlooks their errors. We advise turning away from obsessive thoughts and occupying oneself with learning and calling people to Allah.
