The question

Is it permissible to eat Jewish "kosher" food when halal food is not available in non-Muslim countries, especially that which does not contain pork, or should one limit oneself to vegetables, and does the ruling differ if some food is halal and the other is "kosher," such as ice cream?

The answer

Allah Almighty has permitted for us the food of the People of the Book with His words: "This day are (all) good things made lawful for you. The food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you." And given that Jews are known for eating ritually slaughtered meat, their food is permissible, whether it is meat or otherwise, as long as it does not cause harm. This includes vegetables, fruits, fish, and eggs.
