Is it permissible to offer drinks and sweets to a specialized committee of non-Muslim professors after a thesis defense during the daytime in Ramadan, especially since some of them are coming from distant countries?

The majority of Sunnis hold that disbelievers are addressed by the ancillary rulings of Sharia (definition), such as prayer, zakat (definition), and fasting. Accordingly, it is not permissible to offer them things that break the fast during Ramadan (definition), unless the person is ill with an illness that permits breaking the fast, or is traveling a distance that allows shortening prayers and does not intend to stay for four days. The correct approach is not to offer them any drinks or sweets, so as not to cooperate in sin and transgression, based on the Almighty's saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
