What is the ruling on a man loving a person from among the People of the Book due to not seeing any evil from him, while detesting their belief? Is it unlawful (haram) or disliked (makruh)? And does the dislike cease if one is secure that they will not be pleased with their religion? What is the ruling on a Muslim loving his Christian wife due to the goodness and respect he sees in her? And is it disliked or unlawful to sit with and accompany a Dhimmi?

The answer depends on differentiating between religious love and natural love. Natural love for a non-Muslim, due to kinship, marriage, good treatment, or benefit, is not forbidden and does not contradict disliking them in religion. As for associating with and visiting a non-Muslim, it is not forbidden as long as it does not lead to disobedience or transgression of a religious ruling, with preference given to associating with believers and righteous people.
