Eating on the road is permissible Islamically, but it might be considered a breach of decorum for people of virtue in an environment where they do not do so. Among the etiquettes of eating are: saying Bismillah before it, washing hands before and after it, eating from what is in front of the eater, eating while seated, and praising Allah after it.
