What is the ruling on one who frequently commits makrooh acts?
Makrooh (disliked) is that which the Lawgiver has prohibited with a non-binding prohibition. The one who abstains from it out of obedience is rewarded, and the one who commits it is not punished. Scholars have warned against doing it excessively because it may lead to falling into what is (forbidden). The makrooh is an obstacle between the servant and the haram, and the (permissible) is an obstacle between the servant and the makrooh. It has been reported that whoever indulges excessively in the mubah approaches the makrooh, and whoever indulges excessively in the makrooh approaches the haram. What is , but its action is absolutely feared to lead to something makrooh or haram, should be avoided.
