Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice, falling during the hajj season. It is marked by a congregational prayer and, for those able to offer one, the udhiyah, an animal sacrifice. It commemorates the story of Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son at God's command.
