What is the ruling on an incapable pilgrim appointing a non-pilgrim to throw the pebbles on his behalf? And what is incumbent upon him?

Appointing someone to cast the pebbles is sufficient for the incapacitated, and in this case, according to the majority of scholars, no compensatory sacrifice (dam) is required of them. Authorizing someone who is not performing Hajj (a non-pilgrim) to cast the pebbles is valid according to the Shafi'is, in contrast to the Hanbalis. What the mentioned person did is considered sufficient by some scholars. However, out of piety (wara'), it is more cautious to offer a sacrifice (hady) to avoid scholarly disagreement. The minimum for this would be a sheep to be slaughtered in the Haram (definition) area and distributed among the poor.
